6.6 Industrial relations
Why is it significant?
The overall employer-employee relations’ climate is important in terms of ensuring a constructive dialogue, partnership at work and improved business performance.
How does the UK perform?

The number of days lost to industrial stoppages between 1998 and 2002 remained at historically low levels. The number of working days lost in the UK has been lower than in Canada, Italy and France and the US, but it does not perform as well as Germany and Japan, where the rates are very low (chart 6.6).
