Why is it significant?

The overall employer-employee relations� climate is important in terms of ensuring a constructive dialogue, partnership at work and improved business performance.�

How does the UK perform?

The number of days lost to industrial stoppages between 1995-1999 remained at historically low levels. The UK has seen a lower rate of labour disputes than Canada, Italy, France or the US, but does not perform as well as Germany and Japan, where the rates are very low. (Chart 2.6).�
